Death Valley and drive to Mono Lake

Hi, I’m back…

Today I had a early start, as there was a lot so see in the Death Valley. The weather was really nice, not too hot (for Death Valley it was definitely “cold”), and some nice clouds for my pictures!

I started at “Bad Water”, probably the lowest point in Death Valley. The place is called after the salty water “lake”. Can you imagine coming here being thirsty and getting nothing than salty water… must have been a disapointing experience!

DSC_1428Next stop was “Natural Bridge” well after being at Arches National Park years ago, was was a joke. Only one Arche which looked very think.. but the way to the Arche was nice.

Going north, the next stop was at “”Artists Drive”. Avery colorful canyon with red, blue, purplish colors…

The next was, “The Dunes”. A patch of sand dunes in the middle of Death Valley, it looks a bit odd, as most of Death Valley has rocks in all colors, and there you have these massive dunes.. I walked the dunes a bit, but it got friarly hot, as it was about midday.

The last stop was at the “Mosaic Canyon”. A really nice colored canyon. it was about a 40min hike up the canyon with various impressions along the way.

Then it was about time to head to Mono Lake, an other 5 hours drive. Along the way I crossed snowy mountains, steep roads, wonderful forests and lakes.

Have a look at my next post about the “Monolake at Night” pictures.
