2018/08/27 DAY 5 – BEAVER TO Las Vegas

The last day…

I spent the last night in Beaver, which is a pretty nice place. Although I was searching a good Stake house, I ended up eating a very delicious salmon menu. The next morning, I headed towards Las Vegas, with a stop at the Valley of Fire. It was a 3h drive from Beaver to the Valley of Fire, along the way I stopped at an IHOP for breakfast 🙂

The Valley of Fire

It was hot… arriving at noon, the sun was burning and as the place is not so elevated, the temperature is at 37°C and rising. I stopped at the Visitor Center to get some information about the place. I thought I could walk to the Fire Wave, but they strongly recommended NOT to do any hiking that day, as it’s just far too hot. With the red rock, the heat is amplified and it feels like walking in an oven! Never the less I drove through the part, and made many stops along the way. At the far end I did make a small walk, the “White Domes Trail”. And yes it was really hot, not much shade, and the coloured rocks reflecting the heat… I brought a lot of water along the way, which was absolutely needed.

At about 3pm I headed back to Las Vegas, dropping of the car at AVIS and preparing at the airport for the late flight…

This was it, thanks Cisco for the fun time at GSX and the days I was able to spend in the rocks…
